About Surgery

The Department of Surgery provides care for injuries to the body caused by external physical trauma as well as selected internal conditions that require surgical or surgery-related management. In a long-term care setting, this department supports patients who need structured evaluation, follow-up, and coordinated treatment planning for musculoskeletal and trauma-related conditions.

The department evaluates and manages the form and function of the limbs, spine, and their associated structures, including bones, joints, muscles, and skin. Care is provided with attention to functional status, pain control, mobility, and recovery needs, particularly for older adults and medically complex inpatients.
